The Register reports that “The Barnstable town council approved the Barnstable Land Trust’s request for $100,000 from the community preservation act to help preserve the Baker property in Cotuit. BLT must record the Baker purchase prior to June 30, 2008 in order to receive the state’s conservation partnership grant of $60,000. Even with the latest funds from the town of Barnstable, the organization still needs to raise $33,000. The total project cost to acquire and preserve the small piece of property that will connect over 800 acres of protected open space is $210,000.”
