BREWSTER -- Before there was an Earth Day, in 1969, Brewster’s John Hay penned In Defense of Nature, an early plea for conservation and preservation.

So it was fitting that in his old hometown (the 93-year-old Hay now resides in Maine) on Earth Day In Defense of Nature was the book for discussion at Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, which Hay co-founded in 1954. ... ©
