Barnstable’s Sandy Neck: Treasures in the Sand

Freelance writer and photographer Susan Spencer has written a wonderful essay about a recent trek out to Sandy Neck in Barnstable.

As Spencer writes, “The landscape is intriguing: a mix of wind-swept dunes, vast marsh, and interspersed forests living and dead, with tidy Barnstable Harbor on one side and the rolling tides of Cape Cod Bay on the other. Migrating shorebirds and diamondback terrapin turtles, among other wildlife, inhabit this eco-system, a microcosm of the Cape.”
