Free Online Conservation Finance Course

The Trust for Public Land, in partnership with the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine, offers a free online conservation finance course to help individuals learn about and better understand ways of funding conservation projects.

Updated in May 2008, the course is a “comprehensive source of information on how all levels of governments fund land conservation. The course reviews the primary funding options used by federal, state, and local governments, with a particular focus on the state public policy framework that underpins conservation. Since most conservation finance takes place at the local level, a significant area of the course's focus will be on how local governments can create conservation funding.”

Course lessons include Feasibility Research, Measure Design, the Role of Public Opinion Polling, and Case Studies.
