Mass Audubon’s Bird-a-Thon a Soaring Success

Preliminary results of Mass Audubon’s 25th annual statewide birding competition held May 16-17, 2008, are now available. Despite the damp weather, nearly 700 birders participated in the event, identifying 258 species of birds and helping to raise more than $140,000 for Mass Audubon.

Three Mass Audubon sanctuaries on the Cape and Islands (Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary in Barnstable, Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in Wellfleet, Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary on Martha’s Vineyard) participated in the event. Collectively, they raised more than $13,000.
