Peter Brace reports that the Nantucket Islands Land Bank has purchased four-acres of waterfront property. About a half-acre lot with a cottage overlooking Hither Creek was purchased for $1.8 million from Nancy A. Chase, while an adjoining half-acre was donated by her neighbor. (Chase’s sister, Susan Ottison, sold eight acres to the Land Bank for $12.4 million in 2005.) In an unrelated transaction, the Land Bank acquired about 3 acres of “fragile coastal dune habitat” at Dionis Beach for about $900,000.
