History of the Sconset Trust on Nantucket

Thanks to this fairly recent article from Nantucket Today, we learned about the history of the Sconset Trust on Nantucket.

Founded in 1984, the Trust is “dedicated to the conservation of the moors, beaches, marshlands and meadows in a wild state; the preservation of buildings and sites of historic significance; the protection of areas of natural beauty; the safeguarding of the public water supply; and the production of education materials about Sconset’s social, economic and natural history.”

The Trust successfully relocated the historic Sankaty Lighthouse in 2007.
